FREE FOREST EVALUATION AND STANDING TIMBER APPRAISAL
Evaluation
We walk your property to assess the following: the age, health, and quality of the timber, the density of the forest canopy, if and how the forest was previously cut, and the overall general health of the forest. With this information, we can determine which trees to remove to best open the forest canopy, thereby promoting a healthier forest floor and future tree growth.
Appraisal
Ultimately, we work for our customers and will log the property according to their goals for their land. Some landowners choose to manage their forest for future growth and cutting, while others are interested in maximizing the profit from the timber.
Based on the grade of timber and the landowner’s goals for cutting, we construct an appraisal.
– STEP TWO –
The contract between North Woods Logging and the landowner stipulates the timber to be logged, the down payment to the landowner, a timeframe for cutting, and the landowner’s profit when the logging is complete.
– STEP THREE –
Before logging your property, we verify property lines, mark trees, and, if necessary, establish temporary roads for removal of trees.
– STEP FOUR –
Our crews consist of a processor operator who cuts the trees and a forwarder operator who sorts and stacks the timber in the landing area. After it is sorted and stacked, the timber is loaded onto a log truck and taken to various mills where they scale the load and pay accordingly. The landowner will receive receipts of all loads of timber hauled into the mills. North Woods Logging then pays the landowner according to the contract.
– STEP FIVE –
Before we leave your property, we clean up the trails and landing, as well as grade and reseed any temporary roads. Within a couple years, the smaller branches left behind on the forest floor will decompose, enriching the soil. Initially, logging can look messy, but within a year, your forest will be healthier and look more beautiful than before.
